Season 1 Episode 21: Isobel

By the title of the episode you should know what the majority of the episode is about:
  1. John is Elena's birth father
  2. Isobel and John (and Katherine) want all the tomb vampires dead and Stefan and Damon as well in John's case. Also John has the device
  3. Bonnie unspelled the device but we end up finding out she lied about that
  4. Matt and Tyler are not on good terms because of what happened between Tyler and Matt's mom. Gosh I can't believe I just wrote that
  5. Isobel wanted to meet with Elena so she could tell her to get the device from Damon. She threatens people multiple times
  6. Jeremy is looking for Anna. He confronts Elena about the secrets
  7. Anna shows up in Jeremy's room and tells him everything (Pearl)
  8. Isobel regrets her choice to become a vampire and leave Alaric
  9. Isobel says Damon loves Elena. Damon confirms that to Stefan later on. Stefan is jealous
  10. Jeremy is kidnapped by Isobel as leverage and John is there as well. They...bond I guess
  11. Isobel leaves town

My intuition was correct--Isobel is awful. Isobel wants to meet with Elena not to get to know her but in order to get the device from her. Elena is understandably upset by this and has to come to grips that her birth mother is not the person she always hoped she would be. Elena is searching for any family and what she keeps finding out is worse and worse. Bonnie is being the ABSOLUTE WORST once again. Everyone keeps suffering for her decision. She needs to stop blaming her Grams's death on the vampires and take into account that it is not actually their fault. Nobody forced Grams to drop the barrier EXCEPT FOR BONNIE. I get that she doesn't like Damon but the fact that Stefan would suffer and Elena as a result of their deaths?! And how many others will have to die because of Bonnie's misplaced hatred for vampires? I do want to note though that I'm not saying she needs to embrace vampirism but she just needs to place a bit of the blame where it is due. We also learn a bit more about Isobel and the decision she made which doesn't make me like her but I do understand her. And then she leaves. After, of course, telling Elena that Damon loves her. Thanks Isobel for making things awkward but I do appreciate you getting it out there.

Season 2 Episode 10: The Sacrifice Content Warning: Violence (People's hearts are ripped out), Innuendo (implied sex), Language This episode is aptly named. Not the most depressing I've seen but well... you'll see: Luka's Dad steals some stuff from Elena's room Alaric and Jenna are progressing nicely Stefan and Damon are planning to steal the moonstone from Katherine. Season 2 Episode 1: The Return Content Warning: Language, Innuendo, Violence,  Here we are at another season. And it sure does start out with a bang: Elena is able to save John and get him to a hospital Damon brings up the kiss to Elena and quickly finds out that it was Katherine not Elena Stefan tells John he has to leave or Stefan will turn him into a vampire Mason Lockwood who is Tyler's Uncle who showed up for the funeral Katherine shows up at the after event for the funeral pretending to be Elena Bonnie threatens Damon using her powers Bonnie tries to threaten Katherine but it doesn't work and Stefan has to save Bonnie Katherine tells Stefan she came back for him Katherine tells Damon (after a heavy make out session) that she never loved him and always preferred Stefan Damon goes to Elena's room and does some serious "we have a connection" stuff.
