Now that, that is out of the way here is a numbered list of the events that occur in this episode. Or the most important ones anyway.
  1. Vicki is still in the hospital. Stefan does some vampire eye thing (Compulsion) that makes Vicki forget that she was attacked by a vampire and now instead thinks she was attacked by an animal. But that compulsion is not all that strong.
  2. Damon and Elena meet for the first time and Elena hears about Katherine: Stefan's ex girlfriend
  3. Stefan and Elena also have this whole maybe we're not right for each other thing
  4. Jeremy and Vicki have some romantic stuff going on but that is quickly ruined by more compulsion from Damon. (He completely rewrote her memories on certain things)
  5. Bonnie still has some sketchy witch stuff going on but there wasn't a lot of focus on that in this episode
  6. Stefan and Elena have their first kiss
  7. Damon and Caroline have a sex scene at the end (very brief) before it ends with him biting her
Now for my opinion whether or not you want it. This episode is definitely an improvement from the first. I didn't feel like it was as cheesy, it was more realistic. Especially in regards to Stefan and Elena. Although I will note that they did do A LOT of staring which is still unnerving to me but it wasn't as often or as creepy. The nice thing about their budding relationship is that Elena is finally starting to see the bright side of life--cute boys will do that. On the other hand Vicki and Jeremy's relationship is a joke. To be fair he is 15 years old but I mean he is giving her drugs and constantly bringing up the fact that they had sex together. Forgive me if I don't think that is a solid basis for a relationship. Damon is continuing on his campaign to destroy Stefan's life from Vicki to dropping hints to Elena about Katherine. Speaking of Damon and Stefan I found it interesting that the compulsion ability is stronger if you drink human blood versus animal blood. I mean it makes sense but the difference is incredibly significant. It brings in a moral question for Stefan that we, as the viewers, expect he will have to face eventually: Will he have to drink human blood to stop Damon? On a less ominous note I don't think I like Zach Salvatore that much. I just think he is unnecessarily blaming Stefan for things. Like everything that Damon does. Even Damon freely admits that HE is doing this not Stefan. (although he would argue he is doing it because of Stefan.) Tyler Lockwood is also a piece of work. I don't like Vicki but how he treats her is not okay. Overall though this episode keeps the hype up and makes it easy to want to continue. The questions keep piling up: What's going to happen to Caroline? How does Katherine fit into everything? How much damage will Damon cause in his quest to get revenge on his brother? But for all you fellow romantics Stefan and Elena's budding relationship is cute and promising.

Here is this great quote from this episode that I hope you'll enjoy:
"We met. We talked and it was epic. Then the sun came up and reality set in." - Elena Gilbert
